Flowingfins

He's a boy! Females will take an "eggspot" betwixt their ventral fins. My approximate is somewhere betwixt two and 3 months.

I really hope then, either way he is going to be treated right and will have a heated, filtered and cycled tank. Btw, I noticed while I was taking pictures I noticed that his dorsum is slightly plain-featured and is curved into an "South" shape, will this effect his quality of life?

Flowingfins

  • #17
It shouldn't have a major impact, I would only keep an center on information technology and brand certain it's not getting worse.

He'due south cute and pretty! I dearest his metal color! I also got a baby betta from Petco, and it is now happily pond effectually in my 20 gallon guppy tank!

I didn't notice the curved spine in the pictures, and one time I had a guppy with a 5 shaped back, so I doubt it volition affect him much.

Information technology's a little boy! Very nice looking betta I'd say he's a crowntail

From what I'm seeing, it looks like a veiltail to me.

As for the gender, I can't say on that ane, but you'll know presently plenty if he/she doesn't develop an egg spot, since the egg spots are exclusive to females.

Flowingfins

He's big enough that if he were female he would accept an eggspot, so he'southward for sure a boy. Eggspots, on the rare occasion, can be found on male person bettas, then having an eggspot isn't a certain way to tell if it's a female person, but not having one is a sure mode to tell if information technology'south a male. I promise that fabricated sense haha.
As far as him being a crowntail, the little extended rays are considering his fins are growing in, the rays grow first and the webbing fills in after.

Oh well, I really prefer short finned "natural" bettas, and I like female person bettas all-time. Just he is super happy in the 29g, I might only continue him there permanently.
